Iran Press/ Commentary: Speaking at a meeting with Nicolás Maduro, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei referred to the scientific and technological progress and initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran in recent years, adding: "These big steps have been taken in a situation when the heaviest and most unprecedented sanctions and pressures were imposed on the Iranian nation and the Americans themselves called it maximum pressure."
The resistance of the Iranian people led to the failure of the policy of maximum pressure, so one of the leading political officials of the United States recently used the term "disgraceful defeat" to describe the US campaign against Iran.

Iran and Venezuela have always been subject to a variety of unilateral and secondary US sanctions in recent decades due to their anti-arrogance policies and opposition to US dominance.
In particular, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been affected by imposed sanctions after the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the seizure of the Espionage Den (US Embassy in Tehran) in 1979 during the presidency of Jimmy Carter, the Democratic President of the United States. The sanctions have been in place since the 2000s under the pretext of Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
However, during the presidency of former US President Donald Trump, he withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (nuclear deal) as part of a campaign to push the toughest and most unprecedented sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran with the aim of surrendering Tehran to Washington's illegal and irrational demands on nuclear, missile capability and regional policies.
However, the campaign has failed miserably, an issue that even American politicians and senior officials have acknowledged. Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy has acknowledged that US pressure on Iran has been vain and fruitless. The US senator has acknowledged the ineffectiveness and, in fact, the failure of the campaign to put maximum pressure on Iran.
In mid-January 2022, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan acknowledged that Washington was paying the price for former US President Donald Trump's catastrophic mistake about the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, like Sullivan, has acknowledged a strategic mistake by the United States in withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal.
Blinken said on December 7, 2021, that the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal was a big mistake.
Even Robert Malley, the top US negotiator during the Vienna talks on lifting sanctions, has acknowledged the ineffectiveness of the maximum pressure policy.

In the case of Venezuela, the United States has pursued a policy of pushing for the ouster of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez since he took office, including through a series of sanctions.
And it has continued this trend during the presidency of current President Nicolás Maduro by expanding the extent of sanctions.
However, with the help of allied countries, especially Iran, Venezuela has resisted this destructive approach of Washington and has been able to subvert the US actions in supporting the domestic opposition, especially the opposition leader Juan Guaidó, as well as trying to isolate Venezuela regionally and internationally.
In this regard, Nicolás Maduro, while appreciating Iran's support in the Venezuelan nation's hard fight with the United States, said: "You came to our aid when Venezuela's situation was very difficult and no country was helping, and you helped us get out of that situation."
Now, with the visit of the Venezuelan President to Iran, new chapters have been opened in the field of increasing bilateral cooperation in order to improve relations and greater coordination in the face of US actions.
In this regard, The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei welcomed the signing of a 20-year cooperation document between Iran and Venezuela, saying: "Long-term cooperation requires the pursuit of agreements and their conclusion."
Referring to the sincere cooperation between Iran and Venezuela, he noted that Iran takes risks in times of danger and takes the hands of his friends.
