Tehran (IP) - The Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed the speed of scientific progress in the country was good but what was important was that the progress per se to happen.

Iran PressIran news: Receiving a group of Olympiad medallists on Saturday, June 15, Ayatollah Khamenei said because Iran was lagging in terms of scientific progress, no matter how fast it is progressing, it only would reach the middle of the progress way, so it is necessary to reach the edge of knowledge.

Ayatollah Khamani said the movement was started in 2000 with the trend to some extent declining until late 2010 but it raised again:
"It is said that we had a total of 26 gold medals in the World Olympiads from 2018 to 2021, while in 2022 and 2023, we have 30 gold medals, which means we have achieved more gold medals in two years than four years. So, in these two or three years, a movement has been found, but it is not enough and we need a rise. You can work and be effective in the field and make more scientific efforts."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to the coming presidential election and called on the medalist students to encourage others either in the academic environment, working places or in family to take part in polling so that turnout would increase.

As with the criteria for choosing a candidate, Ayatollah Khamenei said: "Consider the fact that what is closer to [Islamic] Revolution's the criteria and can fulfill the criteria of the Revolution. If you consider these, you may make a good choice."
