Iran Press/Iran news: According to Iran Press, before his appointment to the top job, Brigadier General Salami was the second-highest-ranking commander within the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC). He was also promoted to the rank of Major General on Sunday, in addition to being appointed the top commander of the IRGC.
The Leader's decree reads as follows:

In view of your expressed desire to be more active in the cultural sphere, and in particular to play a more active role countering enemy soft war, I sincerely thank you for your very valuable efforts during your leadership and supervision of the IRGC , and I hereby appoint you as the manager and director of the cultural and social institution of Hazrat Baghyatollah-ol-A'zam.
I hope that you will be able to use the immense capacities and resources of our society, particularly the knowledge and wisdom of our religious scholars, and also the talents an skills of our young people and cultural elite to extend and promote the Islamic Revolution, introducing it to a much wider public. You are also expected to plan ahead and manage the organization adeptly and coordinate and collaborate with the cultural division of the IRGC and the Basij volunteer organization.

It is hoped that under your leadership, the IRGC can evolve and grow further, taking major steps in this direction.
