Iran Press/Europe: Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with Azerbaijani and Armenian ambassadors to Moscow, Polad Bulbuloglu and Vartan Tuganyan respectively, to discuss issues related to security in the Caucasus region and measures needed to stabilize the border conflict between the two sides.
During the meeting, the prospects of efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the auspices of the Minsk Group leaders of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) were discussed.
The Minsk Group is made up of Russia, the United States, France, and its representatives have repeatedly tried to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but to no avail.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently stressed his country's readiness to mediate between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region began in 1988 and turned into a military conflict in 1991, as a result of which the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven neighboring cities came under the control of Armenian forces.
