Iran Press/Iran news: Ali Larijani was speaking to the 13th International Cooperative Alliance – Asia-Pacific (ICA-AP) Regional Assembly in Tehran, where he lauded the good job cooperatives have been doing in Iran, the village cooperatives in particular, Iran Press News Agency reported.
The event is taking place between November 26-30, 2018 in Tehran in partnership with the Iranian cooperative movement, headed by the Iran Chamber of Co-operatives (ICC).
'Cooperatives help economies become more resilient and sustainable' was the theme for this year’s assembly. However, the parliament speaker said the country needs to use successful global models in order to introduce cooperatives to the production sector, where both industrial and agricultural areas require lots of training and experience.
Referring to areas where cooperatives in Iran have failed to achieve success, Larijani said: "Cooperatives are not adequately trained therefore differences arise soon and the cooperatives collapse. Thus they should be rules-based and receive enough training to be able to resolve differences of opinion."
For instance, he said, the successful models of cooperatives in Iran include knowledge-based corporations and information technology (IT) firms in which the country's young workforce have managed to create jobs and resolve many economic problems. 101/206
