Iran's parliament speaker Ali Larijani said that the relation between Iran and Iraq has been deep-rooted from the post.

Iran Press/ Iran news: Iran's parliament speaker Ali Larijani and President of the Iraqi Supreme Council of the Judiciary, Faeq Zidan held a meeting on Tuesday in Tehran.

According to Iran Press news agency, the two sides discussed the important mutual and regional issues.

Emphasizing that the US has been seeking to separate the Iranian and Iraqi people, Larijani said: "Holding ceremonies such as Arbaeen has shown that the relation between the two countries has been deeply rooted.

In the following, Iran's parliament speaker mentioned the economic cooperation through investment and activities of contractors in the two countries as one of the important measures for the economic development of the two countries and said: "Investors and contractors should be supported by the governments of the two countries."

He also emphasized that some disagreement between the Islamic countries should not lead to compromise with the Zionist regime.

"The normalization of the relationship between Islamic and Arab countries is dangerous and harmful and Iraq has an important role in this regard," Larijani said.

For his part, the Iraqi Supreme Council of the Judiciary, Faeq Zidan in this meeting pointed to atrocities of the Saudi Arabia in Yemen and said: "the world would take the strongest position if just 5 percent of Yemen atrocities happened anywhere else in the world, but global silence over war crimes in Yemen is surprising."

He also praised Iran's cooperation with the Iraqi government to tackle the Daesh terrorists in Iraq.

Earlier on the day,Iran's consulate general in Iraq’s southern city of Basra, Ahmad Siahpoosh described the relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq as strategic.
