Tehran (IP) - The spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the action of the Islamic Republic was based on the legitimate right to confront the terrorist elements affiliated with the Zionist regime in Erbil, Iraq, who had put the national security of Iran and its citizens under threat and danger, stressing that Iran will not hesitate to take deterrent approach toward the sources that threaten its national security and will punish criminals.

Iran Press/Iran news: The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Kanani, expressed his regret over the recent statement issued by the foreign ministers of the Arab League and rejected its content, saying: "The action of the Islamic Republic is based on the legitimate right to confront the terrorist elements and affiliated with the Zionist regime in Erbil, Iraq, which is the national security of Iran and Its citizens were exposed to threats and danger, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to have a deterrent approach towards sources threatening national security, as well as defending the security of its citizens and punishing criminals."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman emphasized that respecting Iraq's sovereignty and territorial integrity and good neighborliness with it are among the established and proven principles of the Islamic Republic of Iran in relation to Iraq. "In this regard, in the past years, especially since the beginning of the attack of ISIS and Takfiri outfits on Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, with its responsible approach to maintain the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country, has stood by the government, nation and armed forces of Iraq with all its strength."

At the same time, Kanani emphasized: "The Iraqi government is expected to be committed to the security agreement signed between the two countries last year and to fully implement its provisions."

The spokesperson of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs added: "The relationship between Iran and Iraq is strong, all-round and based on common interests and interests as well as unbreakable ties between the two nations, so it is expected that the Arab League will use its political, legal and international efforts and power to stop the barbaric attacks and genocide by the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip and end the 75-year occupation of the Palestinian land and support its oppressed nation."

The foreign ministers of the Arab League reacted on Wednesday night by publishing a statement about Iran's attack on the terrorist headquarters affiliated with the Mossad spy organization in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan.

The website of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the Arab League made this statement in its extraordinary meeting, which was held on Wednesday night under the chairmanship and request of Baghdad, following Iran's missile attack on the Mossad headquarters in Iraqi Kurdistan.

It was stated in this meeting that attacking Iraq's territory is considered aggression and is condemned.
