Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the on-going joint naval military drills of Iran, China and Russia prove the fact that Tehran is willing to cooperate in upholding security and freedom of shipping in the internationally important waterway of Hormuz.

Iran Press/Iran News: "The joint wargames also showed that the major world powers do not subscribe to the policies and actions that create tension in the region," he told reporters upon arriving in Moscow late on Sunday.

The four-day military drills started on Friday at the operation theater North of Oman Sea in the Indian Ocean.

To a question on the agenda of his visit, Zarif said Iran and Russia enjoy strategic ties and need to constantly exchange ideas on bilateral relations, a well as regional and international developments.

Bilateral talks between Iranian and Russian foreign ministers are scheduled for Monday.
