Iran Press/Iran News: Ambassador of Japan to Tehran Mitsugu Saito and deputy of foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had participated in the ceremony which also coincided with the Iran-Japan Business Relations Summit.
Mitsugu Saito said the Japanese Prime Minister's visit to Iran after 41 years shows the strong relationship between the two countries.
He said due to Iran's situation, trade relations between Tehran and Tokyo are insufficient and Japanese companies hope to work with Iran in the future.
He added: "َAlthough Iranians are struggling with many problems I believe they could find a good solution for these problems."
For his part, Iran's deputy foreign Minister, Abbas Aragchi, said in this meeting: "We have two historical event in our 90 years' relationships with Japan which shows our good relationship with this country first, due to our situation in the world we have good relationship with Japan and second, although we are facing economic problems I believe we have good economic relation with Japan."
Araghchi dismissed Japan's foreign policy as conservative, saying that Japan's foreign policy is not conservative, but bravely and courageous.
"Japan has assisted Iran at historical junctures," Araghchi added.
Araghchi went on to say: "Although Iran has problems in its relations with Japan, I believe that the relations between the two countries are strong enough,"
He added: "When Iran was faced with a British embargo on oil sales in 1941, it was a Japanese ship that came to Iran to buy oil."
"After the 1997 Islamic Revolution, the first ship came to Iran to buy oil was Japanese," Abbas Araghchi noted.
The ceremony of commemoration of the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relationships of Iran-Japan kicked off on Monday, December 16th, here at the faculty of world studies, University of Tehran.
