Iraqi security forces suffered dozens of injuries during the attack on the Iranian consulate in Najaf.

Iran PressMiddle East: News sources reported that 47 Iraqi security forces were wounded during an attack on the Iranian Consulate in Najaf. 

On Wednesday night, a group of masked assailants, who were not locals from Najaf, stormed the Iranian consulate in Najaf and burned parts of it with the Saudi Arabian news network Al-Arabiya broadcasting live the incident. This happened while Al-Arabia is banned from operating in Iraq. 

The Iraqi Government through a statement declared that the attack on Iranian consulate was aimed at impairing Iraqi-Iranian relations. 

Following the aggressive attack on the Iranian Consulate in Najaf, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs described that the aim of this move was to damage Iraqi-Iranian relations, and urged the protesters to watch out for those who want to discredit the real Iraqi's people protests.

The new round of popular demonstrations in Iraq in a peaceful manner began as of October 25, in various cities, including Baghdad the capital, Karbala, Basra, Najaf and other cities in protest to corruption and poor economic conditions. Although recently through the regional countries' interference the protest has deviated.  

The Iraqis peaceful protests are aimed at their needs and demands to be met by the government.

The Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi's government along with the parliament has put a package of reforms on their agenda.
