The Iraqi Prime Minister arrived in Moscow on an official visit to meet with Russian officials and discuss regional developments and bilateral issues.

Iran PressEurope: Upon the official invitation of Russia's Putin, the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani arrived in Russia to discuss issues related to security and stability in the region.

"Historically, Iraq was in the sterling area, then It was transferred to the dollar zone, and the majority of Iraq's foreign trade is carried out with US dollars; If the world order changes, Iraq will also act according to its national interests," said the Iraqi Prime Minister.

The sterling area comprises a group of countries that either pegged their currencies to sterling or actually used sterling as their own currency.

On the visit of the Russian Presidential Assistant Igor Levitin to Baghdad, Al-Sudani stressed the historical relations between Iraq and Russia and demanded to development of Baghdad-Moscow ties. 

He also emphasized the start of the 'Development Road' project. 

The Development Road aims to transform the transportation infrastructure in Iraq.

The Prime Minister of Iraq considered the 'Grand Faw Port' as a sustainable economic project in line with the policies of the Iraqi government to move towards a multifaceted economy with no reliance on oil. 219
