The Speaker of Iraqi parliament congratulated Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf on his election as Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and expressed his desire to develop relations between the two countries.

Iran Press/Middle East: Mohammad al-Halbousi sent a message to Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, congratulating him on his election as Speaker of Iran's parliament and wishing him success in realizing the interests and aspirations of the Iranian people, emphasizing his deep desire to develop relations between the two countries. 

Al-Halbousi is a politician, member of parliament and former governor of Iraq's Anbar province who is now 36 years old and the youngest speaker in the Iraqi parliament.

Al-Halbousi served as deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament since 2014 and entered the Iraqi parliament the same year.

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf also elected as Iran's parliament speaker in the 11th term of the "Islamic Consultative Assembly" (Majlis) with 230 votes in favor.
