Iran Press/ Middle East: On Saturday, the Interior Minister of Iraq, Othman al-Ghanmi met with the Syrian Ambassador to Baghdad Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah to discuss bilateral relations and ways to expand security cooperation.
The meeting discussed a number of issues concerning Syria and Iraq that serve the interests of the two neighboring countries.
The two sides also discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Baghdad and Damascus, as well as aspects of security issues, in particular the exchange of intelligence and experience.
The Iraqi Joint Operations Command recently announced that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, other ministries and the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi), it is securing the 610 km of border between Iraq and Syria and preventing terrorists from infiltrating Syria.
Since the final defeat of ISIS in 2017, Iraq has been working hard to secure its border with Syria, as elements of the remnants of the ISIS terrorist group continue to wander in the region and cross between the two countries. 219
