Tehran (IP) - Iranian mourners on the evening of Ashura gathered in different parts of Tehran like other cities across Iran and lit candles to pay tribute to martyrs of Karbala and Imam Hussain's (A.S.) followers and family.

Iran Press/Iran news: Shame Ghariban literally in Persian literature and culture means "The Evening of Strangers" which refers to the evening of Ashura and what happened to Imam Hussain's family in the captivity of enemies.

On this night, Shias mourn and lament the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and the tragedies that happened to Imam Hussain's family.

On the evening of Tuesday in Tehran, people gathered in Imam Hussain Sq and other main Sqs and lit candles as a sign of mourning and empathy with Imam Hussain's followers who suffered in the Karbala on the night of Ashura on the tenth day of Muharram of 680 AD.
