Iran Press/ Iran news: "Iran has a lot of scientists who work in medicine, computer science, and also in artificial intelligence (AI) both in Europe and in the US," Henning Müller told Iran Press reporter on the sidelines of the First National Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medical Imaging.
"There are very good universities in Iran and it is important to keep this exchange with the world where people work on related topics and collaborate on that," he said.
"I think the conference shows there is an interest and a potential and the things are on the right way," said Müller.
About Iranian students, he added: "I think the education is very good. It is important to keep that up because it will make and create a better health system and possibly it will reduce costs and improve the well-being of the population" he stated.
"I think AI has a lot of potentials but it is also important to integrate computer science research with medical research because quite often it is done in separate ways, and then it is easy to misunderstand two things that might seem relevant to the medical field but in the end, are not applicable" the Swiss scholar added.
"So, it is important to integrate this research into medical institutions and to encourage computer scientists and physicians to collaborate with each other," he said.
The first conference on AI (Artificial Intelligence) in medical imaging kicked off on Sunday in Tehran, with leading researchers and pioneers from around the world attending.
