(IP) - Iran's national volleyball team defeated China 3-0 in the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship semifinals to play Japan in the final match on Saturday.

Iran PressIran News: Behrouz Ataei’s players managed to conquer China (25- 20, 25-23, 25-23) in three consecutive sets.

The head coach of Iran’s national volleyball team described the match as a challenging game for both teams.

He stated that the team’s ultimate objective is to secure the championship title and will strive to achieve this goal. The coach also wanted to dedicate the victory to Iran’s kind and supportive people, particularly those from Urmia in attendance.

Japan beat Qatar 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 28-26) earlier on Friday.

China and Qatar will compete for the third title and bronze medal.

The competition is being held in Urmia, Iran.

Japan is the most decorated team with nine titles. South Korea and Iran have won the trophy four times each.

Japan is the best Asian team in the FIVB ranking sitting in fifth place, while Iran is in 10th place.
