Tehran (IP)- Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations and the Senior Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran for Special Political Affairs met and discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the restoration of Tehran-Riyadh relations, humanitarian problems in Syria and Yemen, as well as the prospect of peace in the region.

Iran PressIran News: According to the General Department of Information and Spokesperson Affairs of Iran's  Ministry of Foreign Affairs, "Martin Griffiths", Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations, met with "Ali Asghar Khaji", Senior Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran for Special Political Affairs, and said that the recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia regarding the resumption of bilateral relations has positive consequences on regional developments and he considered the advancement of the peace process and emphasized the importance of the participation and cooperation of the countries of the region in meeting the humanitarian needs of the people of Syria and Yemen.

Referring to the existing security and political establishment in Syria, Khaji considered the economic problems and the critical humanitarian situation in Syria, especially after the recent earthquake, to be the most important problems of this country and emphasized the need to increase and accelerate the transfer of humanitarian aid at the regional and international levels.

Iran's senior advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on special political affairs related to Yemen also evaluated the recent negotiations in Sana'a positively and said: "More than 20 million Yemenis are in urgent need of help."

Iran's foreign minister's adviser called for the urgency and participation of the international community in the fight against humanitarian problems in Yemen.

Martin Griffiths, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator at the United Nations, who has traveled to Tehran, also met with Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and exchanged views on various regional and international issues.
