Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Iranian Armed Forces, visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) and called on General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), today.

Why it matters:
Cooperation with neighboring countries, particularly in strengthening military relations, is a key focus of Iran's defense policy.
Pakistan, as a neighboring Muslim nation with military strength, can significantly enhance Islamic ties in the region. Its rich history and cultural heritage position it as a bridge between Central and South Asia, fostering stronger cultural and economic connections. Additionally, military and security collaboration with Pakistan can effectively address terrorism and extremism in the region.

  • During the meeting, Major General Mohammad Bagheri and General Syed Asim Munir discussed several important and key issues regarding the regional security environment and bilateral defense cooperation.

Between the lines:

  • He was warmly received, including a guard of honor presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
