Iranian government spokesman has confirmed that a British-flagged oil tanker is free to leave after legal procedures have been completed.

Iran Press/ Iran News:  Iranian Government Spokesman Ali Rabiei at a press conference  on Monday addressed the issue of British-flagged tanker, the Stena Impero which violated maritime regulations in the Strait of Hormuz, and was impounded by Iranian authorities.

He stated that the Iranian government had decided to ignore the vessel's previous violations of maritime regulations out of amicable considerations.

He also added that the Ports and Maritime Organisation of Iran (PMOI) as the responsible governmental organ has decided to allow the vessel to leave Bandar Abbas.

According to Rabiei, the ship would be allowed to leave the port of Bandar Abbas, in southern Iran, when legal proceedings are complete.
