Beirut(IP)- Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met and talked with Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, on Friday morning.

Iran PressMiddle East:  Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, arrived in Beirut yesterday afternoon (Thursday), at the head of a delegation and the second destination of his trip to the region after Damascus, This morning (Friday), the 10th of Shahrivar. He met and talked with "Nabih Berri", the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament.

Nasser Kanani, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mehdi Shushtri, Assistant Minister and Director General of West Asia and North Africa, Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Special Political Affairs, and Mohammad Sadegh Fazli, Advisor and Director General of the Ministry, are accompanying Amir Abdollahian on this trip.

In his meeting with Nabih Berri, referring to the anniversary of the abduction of Imam Musa Sadr and glorifying his central and enduring role in the political developments and resistance in Lebanon and Palestine, Amir Abdollahian appreciated Nabih Berri's continuous efforts in pursuing the fate of Imam Musa Sadr.

He also mentioned the developments in the region and said: Our assessment of the progress of relations with Saudi Arabia is positive, and this has positive effects on regional developments in addition to bilateral relations.

Emphasizing the key importance of Lebanon's stability and security for Iran and the entire region, Amir -Abdollahian added: "The election of the president and the formation of the new government of Lebanon is very important, and of course, this matter is within the competence of the nation and political leaders of Lebanon, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the efforts of your Excellency as Speaker of the Parliament." And Lebanon's political currents support the election of the president.

In this meeting, Nabih Berri emphasized that the most important issue in Lebanon is the issue of the presidency, and said that efforts to reach an agreement between the Lebanese parties in this field continue. Barry added: If the president is elected, Lebanon is a rich country and can get out of the current difficult economic conditions in a short period of time.

Emphasizing that the most important cause of pressure on Lebanon is targeting the resistance, the speaker of the Lebanese Parliament stated: The resistance supporting Lebanon against threats and alongside the army is the basic pillar of Lebanon's security.

Nabih Berri also expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in the relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, and called it in the interest of the entire region.
