IRAN (IP)- The "Golden Statue of the Bengal Tiger" at the 26th Kolkata Film Festival (KIFF ) in India went to Manizheh Hekmat, director of "Bandar Band."

Iran Press/Iran News: Bandar Band won the award as part of the International Film Innovation Competition at the 26th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival.‘Bandar Band’ tells about pregnant Mahla and the other members of a music band named Bandar Band, her husband, and one of their closest friends.

They start their journey to Tehran from a southern province just when they have lost all they had in flood.

They still keep their hopes alive; however, every road they take leads to a dead-end in a flood-stricken land. They intend to go to Tehran, but they wonder if it is just another turn around a vicious circle.

The KIFF is one of the oldest and most valid festivals in India. The fest aims to create an opportunity for a better understanding of international films and promote motion picture art and industry.

The 2021 edition of the event has kicked off on January 8 and last until today (January 15).

Mrs. Hekmat, who attended the festival's virtual closing ceremony today (Friday, January 15th) via video conference to receive the award, thanked the jury, organizers, and selection committee of the Kolkata Festival.
