Iran Press/ Iran news: During the meeting held on Sunday evening, the case of Iranian Caravanserais (54 historical Caravanserais) was examined and approved to be registered as Iran's 27th tangible cultural heritage in the UNESCO list.
The file of Iranian caravansaries includes 54 historical ones in 24 provinces of the country, of course, selected from among hundreds of caravansaries.
Caravanserais are considered one of the most important forms of Iranian architecture, which has led to the development of routes and needs related to the demands and requirements of travel.
As the UNESCO committee explains in the results of its examination, the caravanserais selected out of the map 200 caravanserais, no one of which was similar to the other, which is indicative of the Iranian architects' creativity and aptitude.
Iranian caravanserais were directly involved in social and cultural developments in such a way that their influence can be seen in literature, poetry, painting, miniatures, music, and also architecture. In terms of comparison, the difference between Iranian caravanserais and some other types outside of Iran are seen in the shape and map. It seems that other types of caravanserais refer to the Iranian prototypes.
