Almaty, Kazakhstan (IP) - Iran's national athletics team made a strong start at the Kazakhstan Kazan Cup International Competition, winning a total of five medals on the opening day.

Iran PressAsia: The Iranian athletes secured two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal in various events. Amir Zamanpour clinched the gold medal in the 1500-meter race, while Mehdi Pirjahan took the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles. In the women's 100-meter event, Hamideh Esmaeilnejad secured a silver medal.

On the men's side, Hossein Rasouli finished second in the discus throw, and Mehdi Saberi claimed the bronze in the weight throw.The international competition, which commenced on Saturday in Almaty, Kazakhstan, has seen the Iranian team deliver a standout performance on the first day of the event.
