Tehran (IP) - The head of the National Olympic Committee of Iran said the Iranian athletes have overcome the coronavirus crisis well and will be ready to depart for the Tokyo Olympics.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of the seeing-off ceremony of the first group of athletes heading for the Tokyo Olympics, which was held last night at Imam Khomeini Airport, Reza Salehi-Amiri added: "66 Iranian athletes are scheduled to attend the Tokyo Olympics. The Ministry of Sports and Youth, the National Olympic Committee of Iran and related institutions helped to send the squad to Tokyo with the least concern."

The head of the National Olympic Committee of Iran expressed hope that the Iranian sports squad would have brilliant results in the Tokyo Olympics."

Salehi-Amiri added: "Iran's sports authorities have done their duty to prepare the athletes for the contests, and the Iranian Olympians will go to the Tokyo Olympics without any problems."
