Conakry (IP) - Iran's Ambassador to the West African State Jamshid Parvizi, described how the relations between both Iran and Guinea-Conakry are going forward.

Iran PressAfrica: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press correspondent in Guinea-Conakry, Parvizi stated that Iran and Guinea are committed to expanding ties in areas of interest.

He said: "Since President Ahmed Sekou Touré's government until now both countries have been members of the Non-Aligned Movement and Islamic Ummah and we have a lot of similarities between our people. I believe that our relations are strengthening."

"Ahmed Sekou Toure was the first president of Guinea, serving from 1958 until he died in 1984.

The Iranian ambassador stressed his country's willingness to shore up ties with African countries, including Conakry, and said: "In the politics area we would like to facilitate between officials from both countries. In the economy, we would like to facilitate the presence of Iranian businessmen and business sections in Guinea. Also, we work on facilitating the export of some products to Iran."

As with the education and cultural areas of cooperation, Parvizi said that Iran welcomes Guinean university students and gives scholarships to them, a project started last year:

"This year also we allocated 20 seats to Guinean students. We have cooperation in training civil servants. So far, we have trained 23 Guinean technicians in the field of automobile."

Still, responding to the Israeli PM's attacking Iran before the US Congress, the diplomat said that Netanyahu's presence on that premises was a symbol of the double standards of the Western countries led by the US.

Pointing to the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, the Iranian ambassador called Israel a regime whose hands are stained in the blood of innocent Palestinians and that any country that supports Israel is against humanity.

The regime has killed over 39,000 people in Gaza and wounded over 90,000 others since the all-out war it launched on the Palestinian city on October 7, 2023.
