Iran Press/Iran news: Arriving in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday night that his is part of a periodic visit to those countries in the region that are influential in ending the recent conflicts between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
He added that the main purpose of this visit is to represent Iran's proposed initiative to resolve this conflict and achieve a lasting peace between the two countries of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and consequently the region.
Araghchi referred to the end of the occupation of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan as an important element in Iran's initiative, noting that "Protection of minority rights and human rights is another basis for Iran's initiative to end the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."
"The end of the conflict and the start of talks with the help of influential countries with the aim of ensuring peace are other key pillars of Iran's initiative," he said.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister also described Iran and Azerbaijan as two friendly and neighboring countries, adding that Iran always supports the efforts of Azerbaijan to liberate its cities and occupied territories.
After meeting with Azerbaijani officials, Araghchi will travel to Moscow and Yerevan and then to Ankara to explain Iran's proposed initiative to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The conflict between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which belongs to the Republic of Azerbaijan, began in 1988. It escalated into a military war in 1992.
