Iran Press/ Iran news: Foreign Ministry in a statement on Friday stressed the need to resolve the ongoing unrest in Idlib of Syria.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been closely monitoring the regional developments and the ongoing consequences in Idlib of Syria, the statement reaffirmed.
The statement went on to say that Iran urges holding the Astana peace process in the country to take steps for combating terrorism, avoiding any damage to civilians as well as settling political disputes.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has condemned the measures of other parties particularly the United States to undermine the process, the statement said.
The states have irresponsibly pursued tensions in the region and have sought to exploit Syria's oil resources, the statement added.
The statement noted that Iran and its parties have been attempting to put an end to the ongoing situation.
An airstrike hit a Turkish military force in northern Syria on Thursday night, causing dozens of casualties and risking already strained relations between Ankara and Moscow.
At least 33 Turkish soldiers were killed and up to 50 wounded in the airstrike which came during a battle for a key northern town which had earlier been recaptured by Syrian-rebel militias backed by the Turkish military.
In recent days, the Syrian army has managed to liberate several areas and villages in the south and east of Idlib province.The province of Idlib is the last base of terrorists in Syria.
That has led to a series of confrontations, including deadly clashes this week that saw government shelling kill five Turkish troops.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened the Syrian government in recent days, saying the offensive violates a 2018 deal with Russia meant to prevent a broad military operation.
