Tehran (IP) - Iran's Health Minister announced: "Last year we did not have any deaths due to malaria in the country. The Islamic Republic of Iran is eligible to receive the Malaria Elimination Certificate in 2022, while according to the vision of the Malaria Elimination Program, this was predicted for 2025."

Iran PressIran News: In a message on the occasion of World Malaria Day on April 25, Saeed Namaki added: "Last year, no deaths from malaria were reported in the country, and this index is an extremely valuable and important achievement and the result of planning based on global knowledge and experience."

Namaki added: "Since 2017, no case of local transmission of malaria has been observed in the country and it is time to apply for a 'Malaria Elimination Certificate' to the World Health Organization.

Namaki stated: "Elimination of malaria is one of the 17 goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that can lead to economic development and increase investment in the country."
