Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that the missile power of the Islamic Republic of Iran is not negotiable and Tehran will continue its missile program.

Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with ISNA News Agency on Friday, Bahram Ghassemi said the US claims that Iran's missile program violates Security Council Resolution 2231 is a big lie.

Ghassemi also said that Iran's missile capabilities are part of the legitimate defense capabilities and guarantees of the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran Press reported.

Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman said, "The experience of the eight-year war imposed on Iran is enough for us to never sacrifice our scientific development for baseless concerns of the aliens."

Iran's missile capabilities in no way contradict international regulations in the field, Ghassemi said.

No country has right to render an unfair interpretation of the Resolution 2231 in a bid to deprive the countries of enjoying scientific technologies, he stressed.

The remarks come amid statements by certain EU governments about the need for Iran to avoid long-range missile tests in order to enjoy the economic benefits of a nuclear agreement it signed in July 2015 with world powers.

On Thursday, Iran unveiled an underground precision ballistic missiles plant belonging to the Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Iran has repeatedly dismissed the statements, saying its missile program is not negotiable as part of efforts to preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), an international deal on the country’s nuclear activities which has suffered as a result of a decision last year by the United States to unilaterally withdraw from the agreement. 101/202/213
