Tehran (IP) - The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Korea discussed the future of bilateral relations.

Iran PressIran news: In a phone call on Monday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Park Jin reviewed the regional and international issues.

During the conversation initiated by the Korean side, Amir-Abdollahian called Asia one of the foreign policy priorities of Iran and stated: "We believe that the current century belongs to Asia."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran and South Korea are two important actors in the continent, and we appreciate the long-standing and friendly relations between the two countries."

Referring to the solution to the transfer of Iranian assets from South Korean banks, Amir-Abdullahian emphasized, "Now we can take a step in a new page of bilateral relations and the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any initiative that helps to improve the relations between the two countries."

For his part, the Foreign Minister of South Korea expressed satisfaction with the agreement reached regarding the transfer of the assets belonging to the people of Iran and considered it a sign of the practical commitment of Seul to the government and people of Iran and the importance of the efforts of both sides to resolve the issue.

Park Jin described the recent developments in the relations between the two countries as positive and meaningful and emphasized his country's readiness to strengthen bilateral relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Referring to South Korea's membership in the UN Security Council in the next two years, he expressed readiness to cooperate with the Islamic Republic of Iran in order to consolidate peace and stability in the Middle East.

The two sides also exchanged opinions regarding the effective participation in the international summit on dust control, which is to be held in Tehran with the cooperation of the United Nations.

Amir-Abdollahian and Park referred to the more than 6-decade history of diplomatic relations between Iran and South Korea, describing the entry into the seventh decade of joint diplomatic ties as an important and valuable support in the development of Tehran-Seul relations and emphasized the need to preserve and protect it.
