Iran Press/ Iran news: Alireza Akbari who was arrested in Iran due to espionage and cooperation with the UK intelligence service received a death sentence after passing through the judicial process based on firm evidence.
Following the protest of Akabri as the defendant and his request for a court of appeal, the case was re-examined in the Supreme Court of Iran, yet the appeal was rejected and the preliminary indictment was issued for the convict.
In the statement, Iran's Ministry of Intelligence said that Akbari was one of the UK's most important agents who collected important information about Iran and provided it to the British intelligence service while was fully informed of the job.
"Being aware of the importance of his position and his access level to some sensitive entities of the country, Alireza Akbari becomes a key spy for the SIS service, who was simultaneously taken the information from and guided by several officers for the Iran desk," the statement added.
