Iran (IP) - The Director General of the Red Crescent Society of Khorasan Razavi Province, northeastern Iran, said 11 containers of humanitarian aid went to the earthquake-hit people in Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran news: Pointing to the happening of numerous earthquakes in Afghanistan, Mohsen Zakerian said the aid was sent to Afghanistan on Monday through the Dogharon border in the east of Khorasan Razavi province.   

Zakerian said it was the sixth shipment of Iranian people's humanitarian aid that was sent to the earthquake victims of the Zinda Jan region in Herat Province, Afghanistan.

The donated items included food, oil, rice, canned goods, blankets, detergents, carpets, and sanitary items, which in total weigh more than 250 tons, he reported.

Several earthquakes, the largest of which a magnitude 6.5, jolted areas in the north of Herat Province, Afghanistan, on October 7, killing thousands of people and causing a lot of damage in the area.
