Herat(IP) - The specialized exhibition of Iran's business opportunities started in the city of Herat, Afghanistan, with the presence of Iranian and Afghan officials.

Iran PressIran News: According to the Iran Press news agency from Herat, Afghanistan, the specialized exhibition of the business opportunities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan was held on Thursday with the presence of Iranian and Afghan officials, including the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Herat, Iran's commercial adviser in Afghanistan, officials of the exhibition, Iranian exhibitors and local officials of Herat. 

The exhibition includes Food, plastic, porcelain, kitchen utensils, rubber, medicine, paint, aluminum, petrochemical, and steel.

Due to the political developments in Afghanistan and also the spread of COVID-19, the Islamic Republic of Iran has not managed to hold a specialized exhibition in Afghanistan in the past three years, and this is the first time that Iran is holding a specialized exhibition in Afghanistan during the caretaker government of Afghanistan.

The volume of trade between Iran and Afghanistan in the year 2022 was about one billion seven hundred million dollars, of which Iran's export to Afghanistan was one billion six hundred and fifty-three million dollars, and Iran's import from Afghanistan was less than thirty million dollars.

According to the statistics of the customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the volume of trade between the two countries has reached four hundred million dollars with a five percent growth in the first quarter of this year, and it is expected that this amount will increase to two billion dollars by the end of this year.

The special representative of the President of Iran for Afghanistan affairs and the head of Iran's political representation in Kabul recently announced the organization of Iran's exports to Afghanistan, the activation of the Khaf-Herat railway line, the formation of a facilitation committee, and the removal of obstacles.

Production, investment, and support for investors of the two countries with the aim of boosting trade between Iran and Afghanistan are part of the measures taken to develop trade with Afghanistan.

Afghanistan; Land of Opportunities

According to the Iran Press news agency from Herat, Iran's Consul General in Herat, "Seddiqi Far", said at the opening ceremony of the specialized exhibition: "Afghanistan is a land of opportunities and the Islamic Republic of Iran should make good use of these opportunities."

He added: "Despite the progress that has been made in the field of trade and economy between the two countries, only a limited part of the potential capacities has been used."

He stated: "A large part of Afghanistan's capacity to develop economic cooperation is still unknown and there are still countless opportunities for bilateral cooperation."

Iran is the second home of the Afghan people

In his speech, Sher Ahmad Ammar Mohajed, head of Herat's foreign relations, considered the Islamic Republic of Iran as the second home of the Afghan people and said:

"As the second home of the Afghan people, the Islamic Republic of Iran has grown its industry and economy, and we call for the development of cooperation Economic and industrial Iran is in Afghanistan."

He further stated: "Our cooperation (Iran and Afghanistan) should not be limited to geographical borders and since our culture, religion, and religion are intertwined, we should consider Iran and Afghanistan as one home."

Referring to the arrival of Muharram month, Ammar Mohajed said: "The exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in the month of oppression (Moharram month) and this month is a good opportunity to cooperate with the oppressed."

The head of Herat foreign relations also considered holding Iran's specialized exhibition as an important step to expand economic cooperation and said:" Afghanistan's caretaker government also seeks to maintain good relations with neighboring countries and wants to maintain its good relations."

Afghanistan has a special place in Iran's Foreign Policy

"Hossein Rustai", the commercial advisor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan, also said in this ceremony that the holding of Iran's specialized exhibition will develop the field of commercial cooperation, and added:

" Afghanistan has a special place in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and trade and Economy is an important and key area for bilateral cooperation."

In a part of his statement, he also said: "The approach of the caretaker government of Afghanistan for the development of economic and commercial cooperation is positive, and this approach comes from the constructive interactions between the two countries and the acquaintance of Afghan businessmen with Iranian products."
