Tehran (IP) - The Iranian President welcomed Sudan's request to revive Tehran-Kartoum relations and considered it as a basis for compensating for lost opportunities and creating new opportunities in the development of relations between the two sides.

Iran PressIran news: Sudan's Acting Foreign Minister Ali Sadeq embarked on a landmark visit to Iran on Monday, meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and President Ebrahim Raisi.

The Iranian President, in a meeting with the Sudanese Acting Foreign Minister, highlighted the mutual potential and shared determination of both states to enhance bilateral relations across political, economic, and cultural fields. 

Addressing recent regional developments, Iran's President Raisi emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran's steadfast commitment to maintaining a distance from the Zionist regime.

Raisi underscored that Tel Aviv's attempts to sow discord among Muslims through conspiracies have consistently failed. 

He condemned certain nations' endeavors to normalize relations with the Zionist regime, expressing dismay at how some Muslim countries have turned a blind eye to the actions of the regime, particularly its involvement in the tragic loss of innocent lives, especially children. Raisi added that the approach of these countries toward the Israeli regime has harmed their people.

Earlier, During his meeting with the Sudanese Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Abdollahian emphasized the opening of a new chapter in bilateral relations. He highlighted the Sudanese delegation's presence as a testament to the serious resolve of both countries to enhance cooperation.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Sudan resumed their bilateral relations after a seven-year hiatus late last year.

The Acting Foreign Minister of Sudan, in his meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister also referred to the conspiracies of the Zionist regime for the continuation of the war and internal crisis in Sudan. He emphasized the principled position of the government and the people of his country in supporting the holy cause of Palestine and condemning the aggressions and crimes of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza.
