Tehran (IP) - Iran's Parliament hosted the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's (APA) Budget and Planning Committee.

Iran PressIran news: The event kicked off on July 10 and goes on till  July 11 with the participation of parliamentary delegations from 20 member countries.

Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf was chairing the event.

Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bahrain, Palestine, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Iraq, Indonesia, Lebanon, China, Qatar, Syria, Kuwait, India, Russia, Vietnam, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Arab Parliament, Azerbaijan's representatives, and APA Secretariat have attended the event.

The APA was established in 2006 at the Seventh Session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace (AAPP). It has 42 Member Parliaments and 16 observers.

The assembly has been created as a forum to exchange views, ideas, and experiences for developing common strategies and promoting peace in Asia and the world.

Asia continent, center of global geopolitical developments

Iran's Parliament Speaker stated that the continent of Asia is at the center of global geopolitical developments and has enjoyed a pivotal position in the international scene.

Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf noted: The presence of ancient civilizations and the transformation of the Asian continent into the center of the economic power of the international system have led to the description of the 21st century in the form of the term "Asian century" in political literature.

He said: The internationalization of this era became widespread, so  Asian countries can complement each other and provide "Unity" in the current century.

Cypriots Rep. stresses unity, peace

The head of the parliamentarian delegation from Cypress stressed unity, prosperity, and peace for a better future.

Speaking to Iran Press on the sidelines of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's (APA) Budget and Planning Committee, Nicolaous Tanaritis stated: APA members overview economic, health, environment, and many other fields for more cooperation.
