Tehran (IP)- The managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) announced on Wednesday that Iran's crude production is expected to reach 3.5 million barrels per day (bpd) by September 22, 2023.

Iran PressIran News: Mohsen Khojastehmehr made this statement during a press conference held on National Reporter's Day.

He also mentioned that Iran's oil output was at 2.2 million bpd in August 2021 when the current administration took over.

Khojastehmehr further stated that within the next week, there will be a 2.2 million bpd increase in the country's oil production, with an additional 100,000-barrel hike by the end of September 22, which marks the end of the next Iranian calendar month.

The NIOC CEO highlighted that Iran's oil exports have doubled since the current administration took office. He also emphasized that the development of Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field was the first decision made in the oil sector under this government.

"We outlined a plan to start producing gas in Phase 11 within two years, which is one of our country's strategic goals," Khojastehmehr stated.

He recalled that French company Total had signed a deal with Iran twice for this project but eventually pulled out. However, he expressed pride in Iran's ability to employ domestic experts and resume gas production after a 20-year hiatus.

Despite facing sanctions and challenging international conditions, Khojastehmehr noted that Iran has made significant progress in its oil sector. Currently, there are $11 billion worth of Iran Petroleum Contracts (IPCs) in progress, and he expects the total value of oil contracts to reach $60 billion once ongoing negotiations are finalized.

Furthermore, Khojastehmehr revealed that contracts for joint oil fields worth $8 billion will be signed during the fall and winter seasons.
