Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Health says the neighboring countries seek Iranian medicines due to their quality and price.

Iran PressIran news: On the sidelines of the one-day exhibition of health items produced by the Iranian knowledge-based companies, Bahram Einollahi said the pharmaceutical products that were once imported into the country were now produced domestically and could be exported.

50 Iranian knowledge-based companies have presented 200 products in the exhibition held on Sunday. 

Due to the support for the Iranian knowledge-based companies, 402 high-tech medicines in diagnosis and treatment areas were domestically produced. These made-in-Iran vital and strategic health products have attracted the attention of the foreign markets.

Einollahi said: "Today, 97 percent of the medicines needed in the country is produced domestically, with only 3 percent being imported." 

Part of Sunday's exhibition displayed the technology of stem cells in treating various diseases. According to the Minister of Health, Iran was one of the few leading countries globally.

The Iranian Royan Research Institute is ranked first in stem cells in the region, publishing articles in this regard every few years.
