Iran's Minister of Energy, in a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart, while emphasizing Iran's readiness to repair and maintain Lebanon's power plants, emphasized the need to develop bilateral relations in the field of energy.

Iran PressMiddle East: In this meeting, Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Iran's Energy Minister pointed to the technical and engineering problems in the Lebanese electricity network that cause an increase in the cost of electricity.

Emphasizing that there are many capacities in Iran, especially in the field of electrical engineering, Iran's minister said: "It is possible to use this cpability and knowledge to solve the problems of the Lebanese electricity industry, one of the results of which will be the stability of electricity and the other would be the reduction of expenditure regarding electricity production.

Referring to some economic problems in the Lebanese electricity industry, he added: "Iranian engineers have achieved high capabilities in the field of setting up, repairing and managing the electricity network over the past years, and we can use this capacity to solve some of Lebanon's electricity problems."

Also, the Minister of Energy of Lebanon, while expressing his satisfaction with the meeting with the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, pointed out the serious problems of the Lebanese government in providing stable and nationwide electricity.

He added:" Lebanon faces many problems in the electricity industry, and many countries that hinder interaction with Iran, do not help us in improving the Lebanese electricity grid, especially in the field of engineering technology."

Walid Fayaz noted: "We hope that in the shadow of improving the level of cooperation between Lebanon and Iran along with taking advantage of Iran's knowledge and experience in the field of electrical engineering and energy, Lebanon would be able to solve some of the problems of in its electricity industry."

Iran ready to help Syria restoring lost power capacity

Iran’s Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian says the country is ready to provide funding and expertise to restore some 5 gigawatts (GW) of electricity generation capacity that has been lost due to more than a decade of war in Syria.

Mehrabian told Syria’s Minister of Water Resources Tammam Raad on Saturday that Iran is preparing a second major line of credit to fund reconstruction projects in Syria which he said will mostly focus on electricity projects and power plants in the Arab country.
