Tehran(IP)- Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, arrived at the Zvartnots International Airport early this morning to conclude contracts for the construction of the Agarak-Kajaran Road as part of the Tranche 4 of Armenia's North-South Road Corridor.

Iran PressIran news: Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, at the head of a delegation, arrived in Yerevan today to visit Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, Gnel Sanosyan for the promotion of bilateral transport cooperation.

Mehrdad Bazrpash was welcomed at the Zvartnots International Airport by the Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia and the executive director of the "Road Department" Fund. 

Among the agenda of this visit is signing two contracts for the reconstruction of the 21 km road section from Agarak to Vardanidzor and the construction of the 11 km road from Vardanidzor to the tunnel exit as part of the Tranche 4 of Armenia's North-South Road Corridor.

Armenia's North-South Road Corridor reduces the distance from Iran's border to the Georgian border and will significantly facilitate access to the Black Sea for Iran and Armenia. The project will provide access to the Black Sea and European countries through the territories of Armenia (Meghri-Kapan-Goris-Yerevan-Ashtarak-Gyumri-Bavra) and Georgia. 

Previously in October 2022, Iran and Armenia agreed to participate in the construction projects of Armenia including tunnels and roads by Iranian companies.

Kheirollah Khademi, Iran Deputy Minister and CEO of the Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company, and Mahdi Safari, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy accompanied the delegation.
