Iran Press- Middle East/ Speaking on Tuesday, the foreign ministry spokesman, Bahram Ghasemi said: “We hope that the upcoming events and agreements that are a success in diplomacy will lead to good results in Idlib and we will witness a new Syria.”
Commenting on the agreement reached on September 17 by Turkey and Russia to establish a “demilitarised zone” in Idlib, Bahram Ghasemi said that Iran has always been involved in and informed of latest developments in Syria, IRNA reported.
'We have always been informed of ongoing developments and constant consultations between the three countries (Syria, Russia and Turkey) and nothing has been done without the other two knowing about it,' Ghasemi said speaking on the sidelines of a local ceremony in Tehran.
Welcoming the agreement made by Turkey and Russia in Sochi to create a demilitarized zone in Idlib, he said, 'The summit between Turkish and Russian leaders and the agreement made about how to solve Idlib problem is an important step in expunging the remnant of the terrorists in Syria.

'The agreement can help put an end to the life of terrorist groups and restore peace in Syria through providing the required needs and considering all humanitarian aspects, Qasemi added.
'Stopping any kind of violence and bloodshed as well as removing terrorism from the zone are one of the most fundamental principles of Iran’s Foreign Policy,' Qasemi said.
He also hoped that the Sochi meeting can solve the problems of Syrian people and remove the violence-seeking forces from the Arab country, in line with positive framework of Astana talks and the Tehran summit.
Furthermore, the Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on September 18, 2018, praised 'intensive responsible diplomacy' in relation to Syria's Idlib, saying diplomacy may have averted war in Idlib.

The Russian president Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan met at a bilateral summit in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on Monday.

The two leaders came up with a joint Russian-Turkish plan to set up a demilitarised zone as a buffer between the Syrian army and the militants in Idlib.
Also on 7 September 2018, Russian President Vladimir Putin along with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended a trilateral meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran to track the political process of the Syrian crisis, on the eve of the liberation of Idlib as one of the last areas under the control of terrorists in Syria.
During a trilateral summit, the leaders discussed joint efforts as part of the Astana process and political efforts for finding a lasting solution to the Syrian conflict.

The Third summit came as the Syrian army is preparing for an attack on Idlib, the last stronghold of terrorists in the north.
The first of the trilateral summits was held last year in Russia's Black Sea city Sochi on 22 November.
