Tehran(IP) - The Minister of Energy of Iran is traveling to Baku at the head of a delegation to meet high-ranking officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Tuesday evening.

Iran PressIran News: According to the Ministry of Energy's website, Iran's Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian is scheduled to meet with the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov.

The aim of Mehrabian trip to Baku is to discuss the ways to enhance and expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Iran Press News Agency the deputy ministers of water and electricity of the minister of energy, the director-general of the office of border rivers and shared water resources of Iran Water Resources Management Company, the director-general of the office of public relations and information, head of the center of international affairs and co-chair of water and electricity diplomacy of Iran's Ministry of Energy will accompany Mehrabian on the trip to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Republic of Azerbaijan is one of Iran's neighbors, which intended to expand cooperation with Iran in various fields in recent years.

Relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan gained new momentum after the meeting of the presidents of the two countries on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Ashgabat on November 28, 2021.

Republic of Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov arrived in Tehran on Monday and was welcomed by his Iranian counterpart in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Compound.

Bayramov in his one-day trip met with senior Iranian officials including President Raisi and Iran's Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
