Iran's Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs emphasized that the foreign exchange resources of southern countries should be used to make these countries stronger so as not to fall into the trap of global unilateralism.

Iran PressEurope: During a speech at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the OPEC Fund in Vienna, Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs Ehsan Khandozi said that by becoming stronger, we will not be sanctioned easily and we will remain independent.

He added: "This is the practical approach of the new Iranian administration; Using the capacity of neighboring and developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America."

Referring to Iran's emphasis on more support for less developed Muslim countries, Khandozi noted: "This is aimed at achieving comprehensive development in the entire Islamic community (Ummah)."

He said: "We will achieve sustainable development in Islamic countries when Islamic countries pass the path of development together."

Regarding resilience, southern countries will not be resilient against economic shocks if they only depend on the export of natural resources, Ehsan Khandozi added.

He continued that the practical approach of the new Iranian administration is to learn from the vulnerabilities of the past, especially in financial, commercial and currency policy.

Khandozi also emphasized: "Considering that the key to the development of any country is the private sector, it is necessary for the OPEC fund to support this sector more."

He added: "The efforts of the OPEC fund are in line with the goals of sustainable development and promotion of development in less developed countries which these are emphasized by all member countries, too."
