London(IP)-The commemoration of the late representative of Iran in the World Maritime Organization was held in London.

Iran PressEurope: The memorial ceremony of the late "Mandana Mansourian", Iran’s deceased permanent representative to the London-based International Maritime Organization (IMO), was held at the headquarters of the organization.

Secretary-General and representatives of more than a hundred countries of the international organization, Syed Mehdi Hosseini Mateen Iranian embassy charge d'affaires in Britain, and the family of the deceased attended the ceremony.

Kitack Lim, the Secretary General of IMO, expressed his deep impression on the pass away of Mrs. Mansourian, and said: "She was a very good and effective colleague for this organization, and as the vice-chairman of the IMO Technical Cooperation Committee, she showed great capabilities."

The Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, referring to Ms. Mansourian's abilities and personality traits, added: "As an active member of this organization, she had an effective presence in all its meetings, and was an inspiration to us and her passing is also a great loss to the entire maritime community."

The chargé d'affaires of the Iranian embassy in Britain also expressed deep regret over the death of Mrs. Mansourian and offered condolences to the government and people of Iran, as well as her family and colleagues, describing Mrs. Mansourian as a worthy representative for Iran and among the experts in the field and said: "She was a committed, capable, diligent and hard-working official."

The late "Mandana Mansourian" was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and after enduring a course of treatment, she died on Friday, February 24, in London.
