Iran Press/ Commentary: Saeed Khatibzadeh, in a weekly presser on Monday regarding the remarks of US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, noted, "The US should know that it is not a member of the JCPOA and it cannot attribute statements or requests to other members of the deal; It is better to prove its sincerity first of all."
Jake Sullivan earlier said that "Iran has not yet shown a desire to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and if Iran returns to it, Washington will return."
As the Vienna talks are set to resume on Monday (November 29th) to lift illegal US sanctions against Iran, the US administration's statements and continued pressure on Iran have cast doubt on the outcome of forthcoming talks.

Following the JCPOA deal and the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 in 2015, all six previous resolutions against Iran, which had led to sanctions on the Iranian nuclear industry, were repealed. Still, the United States and three European countries (Britain, France, and Germany) did not live up to their commitments, especially during Donald Trump's presidency.
However, Iran has fulfilled all its obligations since the final agreement was reached in 2015, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has repeatedly confirmed Iran's adherence to its commitments in several reports.

The Biden Administration now claims that it wants to return to the JCPOA, which has not only failed to take effective action to gain Iran's trust but has also continued to impose unilateral and illegal sanctions on Iran, even as no marked change is seen in the anti-Iranian policy of the US administration under the Democrats.
Many US Republicans and even some Democrats threaten that the next Republican administration could quickly rescind any agreement reached during the Biden era to revive the JCPOA.

For example, Joe Wilson, South Carolina's representative in the US House of Representatives and chairman of the Republican National Committee on National Security Studies Working Group, said: 'When we regain a majority in Congress, we will work to restore any sanctions against Iran that the administration can lift.'
Thus, the history of breach of US commitments and its unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear deal and the continuation of maximum pressure against Iran, which has been carried out with the passivity and even cooperation of the European parties to the JCPOA, namely Britain, France, and Germany, shows that if negotiations are to take place in this regard, it must uphold the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this regard, the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have repeatedly stressed that holding talks is not essential for Iran; instead, it is imperative that the issue of effective lifting of all sanctions and the problem of non-repetition of the breach of law and the illegal conduct of Western parties, including the United States, be guaranteed.

The remarks of the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran also observes the exact position of the Islamic Republic of Iran because the United States, as a country that has left the JCPOA, must first accept responsibility for this illegal action to gain Iran's trust and compensate for all unilateral sanctions with rescinding.
Any future agreement must guarantee that the next administration in the United States will not again violate its obligations and that if such unilateral and illegal action is taken, Iran can reduce or suspend its obligations.
