Tehran (IP): Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran's approach supported comprehensive peace in Afghanistan.

Iran press/ Asia: "We have had talks with the Taliban for the sake of Iran's national interests, and it was to convince them that a comprehensive peace in Afghanistan is needed," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said during the Raisina Dialogue 2021.

Zarif added: "The Taliban should be part of peace in Afghanistan."

Zarif further noted: "Iran has stressed to the Taliban that it is ready to hold any meetings for the Taliban and other groups in Afghanistan, especially the Afghan government, to enter into serious negotiations to move forward with constitutional peace.”

Different groups in Afghanistan have to agree on what they want and then work on how to form it, FM Zarif said.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also stated that the region's countries should help Afghanistan and that there should be unity in the region to help the peace process in this country.
