Iran Press/ Middle East: During the meeting on Friday, Iraj Masjedi and Heydar Al-Abadi discussed issues of mutual interest, according to an IRNA report.
In the meeting, al-Ebadi stressed the importance of preserving the achievements made when fighting Daesh (ISIL) terrorists in Iraq.

Bilateral cooperation and regional developments were other topics discussed between al-Ebadi and Masjedi.
During the meeting, Masjedi also expressed Iran's support for the crucial reconstruction process in Iraq.
"Iran is ready for cooperation with Iraq in all fields", the ambassador added.

Currently, Iran and Iraq have extensive political and trade ties with each other. Iraq depends on Iran's natural gas imports for electricity generation.

Iran is currently Iraq's top trading partner, with annual turnover of about $12 billion, according to Iraqi officials.
The two neighbours are currently working on the supply of Iranian natural gas to Sadr, Baghdad and al-Mansuriya power plants through a 270-kilometer pipeline and to Basra near the Iranian border via a separate pipeline.
