Iran Press/Iran news: In a letter addressed to WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Sunday, Marandi emphasized the urgency of action amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He highlighted reports indicating that nearly 50,000 innocent civilians, including men, women, and children, have lost their lives in what he referred to as an "ongoing holocaust" in Gaza.
Marandi underscored that the genocide in Gaza, broadcast live for the global community for the first time, has reached a critical point in northern Gaza. He described relentless bombardments targeting hospitals, medical centers, and other civilian facilities, including Kamal Adwan Hospital, which served as the last refuge for countless vulnerable Palestinians.
According to reports, Israeli forces attacked Kamal Adwan Hospital on December 27 and 29, setting the medical facility ablaze. Dr. Hossam Abusafieh, along with several patients and medical staff, was detained and transferred to an undisclosed location.
Marandi urged the WHO to take active steps to address these atrocities, advocating for immediate measures to ensure the safety and dignity of healthcare professionals in conflict zones. He warned that the destruction of essential healthcare infrastructure not only endangers countless lives but also violates fundamental humanitarian principles.
