Iran Press/America: The Iranian oil tanker 'Petunia' entered Venezuelan waters on Tuesday while being escorted by Venezuelan armed forces, according to Telesur.
This is the third Iranian oil tanker to enter Latin American waters as part of Iran-Venezuela cooperation in the field of energy. The tanker carries 50,000 tons of fuel.
"Two other Iranian oil tankers are scheduled to enter Venezuelan waters after crossing the Atlantic Ocean as of May 27 to June 1," Telesur reported.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has sent five fuel tankers to support the Venezuelan government and people, which are under US economic sanctions. The Iranian tanker Petunia crossed the Caribbean Sea earlier on Tuesday, following the same route as vessels Fortune and Forest. The Fortune arrived on Monday at a port serving PDVSA’s El Palito refinery.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said he would announce in the coming days a “plan” for fuel distribution. “Now we will be able to go in phases toward a new normal in terms of gasoline supply,” Maduro said in a state television address.
