Tehran (IP) - Iran announced its readiness to cooperate with ECO member states to develop practical mechanisms to counter future pandemics and health challenges.

Iran PressIran news: At the 4th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states on Wednesday, Iran's Health Minister Saeed Namaki has said that the coronavirus revealed that the world needs international cooperation more than ever and the pandemic was a global problem that needs a global solution.

He stressed the timely diagnosis of non-communicable diseases and the sharing of the data as well as the early warning of the diseases, sustainable development goals, universal health coverage, and social factors affecting health as the goals set for improving the life quality of the ECO countries' people, especially in the post-corona era.

Namaki said 57% of high-income countries had been vaccinated, while less than 1% of low-income countries were immunized.

The Iranian Health Minister urged the ECO member states, their ministers of health, and the regional World Health Organization (WHO) directors to support implementing the organization's programs and the meetings statement and keep on the meetings to maximize cooperation.
