Iran's President Hassan Rouhani congratulated his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in a message released on Monday on his 'landslide victory' in Russia’s presidential election.
President Rouhani in his message, lauded 'The admirable way the presidential election was held in Russia' saying, the landslide victory of the incumbent Russian president 'is a source of delight'.
'Expressing my sincerest congratulations on this occasion, I am confident that in your Excellency’s new term in office, relations between the two countries will develop more than the past,' the message read.
President Rouhani also expressed his satisfaction over the progress of the two countries relations in recent years, and announced Iran's willingness and readiness to promote significant cooperation with Russia as much as possible in bilateral, regional and international fields.
With over 99 percent of the ballots counted, Vladimir Putin has secured a landslide victory in the presidential election.
Vladimir Putin is now leading with 76,6 percent of the vote, well above the simple majority needed to avoid a run-off, Ella Pamfilova, head of the Russian Central Election Commission, according to the Russia Today.
